Annual Thanksgiving tradition breaks records, raising $250,000 and providing 25,000 meals to those in need.
November 29, 2024 – It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without turkey. But for thousands of Middle Tennesseans, a Thanksgiving meal is a luxury that wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for Tracy Lawrence’s longstanding holiday tradition – Mission: Possible Turkey Fry.
For 19 years, the country music icon has teamed up with fellow country stars, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters from across the community to raise money for the Nashville Rescue Mission, fry turkeys on-site, and provide meals to individuals and families in need.
This year, Austermiller proudly sponsored the well-known Nashville tradition, joining Lawrence and hundreds of other volunteers, sponsors, and supporters to fry over 1,600 turkeys on-site.
“Seeing the joy and gratitude on people’s faces was beyond heartwarming,” says Penny Austermiller, President & CEO of Austermiller Roofing. “It’s moments like these that remind us how powerful giving back can be, and we’re proud to have so many of our team members involved in making it happen.”
This year’s event broke records. In addition to the over 1,600 turkeys cooked on-site, more than 1,000 frozen turkeys were distributed to food shelters across Middle Tennessee, providing over 25,000 meals to people in need.
“For us, being part of this event is about more than sponsorship—it’s about being part of a community that cares deeply for one another,” says Austermiller. “Giving back is at the core of who we are as a company, not only during the holidays but year-round. Sponsoring and volunteering at the turkey fry and benefit concert was a given.”
In addition to the turkey fry, attendees enjoyed a benefit concert, with performances by Russell Dickerson, Meghan Patrick, John Schneider, and Halfway to Hazard, which raised $250,000 for the third year in a row, the largest amount raised at the annual concert.
“Only in Nashville can you volunteer while enjoying incredible performances from such talented artists,” says Sabrina Green, an office administrator at Austermiller. “It was a fun atmosphere, but more than anything, it was a reminder that we are blessed to be able to be a blessing to others. Moments like this show that when we come together, we can make a real difference and accomplish so much good.”
Tracy Lawrence’s Mission: Possible Turkey Fry has become a cherished tradition over its 19-year history, growing from a small grassroots effort into a large-scale event that unites the Nashville community.
Since its inception, volunteers and sponsors have fried over 10,000 turkeys, provided more than 86,000 meals to people experiencing homelessness across Middle Tennessee, donated over $1M to the Nashville Rescue Mission, and raised over $2.5M to help further its goals, advocate for those in need, and expand their ability to support aligned causes.
Austermiller was honored to play a role in making this year’s event the most successful yet and is committed to continuing its support of local initiatives that make a difference in our tight-knit community.
